The following are examples of Text Tools STRINGS, HEAD or NLX of Penta Text Tools or Tri Text Tools. Each command line is followed by a description of what the command line does. HEAD -T -l2 *.txt can show the Tail of all files *.txt for 2 lines. STRINGS -w -r *:\*.doc will have STRINGS extract Text strings to include White Space (-w) with Recursive exploration (-r) in all files on all drives (*:\) having a standard Word Processor extension (*.doc). The strings would be made visible on the screen. STRINGS -w -r *:\*.doc > s.o will do the same as the previous example but redirect (>) its output into a file named "s.o" that could then be compressed and placed onto a floppy disk or mail attachment to be sent elsewhere for examination. NLX *:\*.txt will have NLX translate any file to have its lines readable by the usual DOS standard in all files having a TXT extension in the current directory (*.txt) The files would be visible on the screen. No editing would occur.
